Leading dog-health author, Ann N. Martin, sums up the state of commercial dog food in a single sentence..
“Most commercial pet foods are garbage”
WARNING: If you continue to feed your dog commercial dog food, death-by-disease is practically guaranteed! You must find an alternative and it doesn’t have to mean spending more money.
So if you love your dog, drop everything, bolt the door and take the phone of the hook because this story is the ‘wake-up call’ that saves the life of your own beloved canine .
My own vet said commercial dog food killed my dog, Noble, because preservatives it contains caused his kidneys to fail.
In fact, through my own research I discovered dog food contains at least 6 deadly chemicals that have been banned from human foods because they cause:
*Kidney cancer
*Bladder cancer
*Skin cancer
*Stomach cancer
*Spleen cancer
*Leukemia
*Liver dysfunction
*Major organ failure
*Immune system collapse
*Severe allergic reactions
*Birth Defects
*Blindness
*Chronic Diarrhea
*Hair Loss and
*Behavior problems, including increased aggressiveness –> very dangerous if your dog is around children.
And if you think, like I did, that buying foods labeled as chemical and preservative free makes them safe, think again… it’s just more lies!
The truth is that commercial dog food contains…chemicals, preservatives, pesticides, roadkill, and even various euthanized animals…even when they are labeled ‘preservative free’.
This information could save your dog’s life and WILL definitely help him live a healthier life.
It’s easy…watch a video…and learn how to cheaply and simply protect your dog TODAY!
He can’t read yet…it’s up to you to protect him.

Here in the U.S. most municipal water facilities that provide tap water commonly use chlorine as part of the water purification process to kill bacteria. Chlorine kills bacterial cysts such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba and Toxoplasma. Without properly treating our water with chlorine or other form of disinfection, disease would develop to epidemic proportions and many would die of dysentery, cholera and other types of waterborne disease.
The amazing fact is, as necessary as chlorine is in disinfecting our water supply, it is also considered to be detrimental to human health. When chlorine is mixed with water, . Trihalomethanes and other disinfectant byproducts are produced. Disinfectant byproducts are known to cause cancer, nervous system disorders and reproductive problems and developmental defects. Point of use drinking water filtration devices can effectively reduce chlorine, trihalomethanes and many other disinfectant byproducts.
Bathing or showering in chlorinated water is another health risk. Warm water opens the pores For more information regarding your water

of the skin allowing chlorine to be absorbed. Worse yet, as we shower, chlorine gas is released. The lungs readily absorb the chlorine to a high degree. This can cause problems for people with emphysema or other lung disorders. When chlorine has entered the blood stream, it puts an additional stress upon the kidneys and liver as they provide the removal process.
A solution to this problem is KDF shower filtration technology. KDF shower filters change chlorine to zinc chloride, an environmentally safe and harmless substance. Many water filtration manufacturers produce shower filters using this technology.
Many drinking water filters can effectively reduce chlorine in drinking water.

“Cast Thyself Into The Enfolding Arms Of The Angel Of Water For She Shall Cast Out From Thee All That Is Unclean And Evil.” – The Dead Sea Scrolls- 3rd century BCE to 640 AD.
It constitutes an intrinsic part of our daily life and we couldn’t survive without it. Amongst its countless benefits to our health and our planet, WATER is the ultimate natural detox tool.
The recent Detox Craze has reached phenomenal proportions, with manufacturers frantically marketing products that promise instant cleansing and purification, in an attempt to fulfil -and obviously profit from- such an overwhelming market demand.
By highly publicizing their successful detox experiences, stars like Beyonce -amongst others- have contributed in making detox ‘hip’ and ‘trendy’. This and other factors have made detox the health buzzword of the 21st century. It is now considered a necessary factor in the quest for optimal health, weight loss and well being.
Unfortunately, such proliferation, variety and availability of detox aids makes identifying the ideal personal detox program a daunting task.
Many cases and articles of ‘detox gone wrong’ are published on the web, reminding the gullible and the unseasoned of the dangers of extreme detox, which clearly could be health-hazardous.
The quest for the ideal detox tool or program is on, with a mind-boggling array of products to choose from: Detox supplements, colon cleansing aids, detox foot baths and detox patches… The list is endless!
In our frantic search for the ultimate detox, we’ve overlooked the ideal and most obvious detox aid. A free, natural resource we’re in physical contact with every single day of our life: Water.
NOTHING supports the body’s cleansing and elimination capacity like Water; the most ancient and potent natural detox aid ever known to mankind. Whether by drinking it, sweating or bathing in it, water has been used to expel toxins, and restore health since the dawn of humanity.
Drink Plenty of Water
We’re all familiar with the dangers of –even minor- dehydration by now.
If the body is not sufficiently hydrated, the cells will draw water from the bloodstream, thus pressurizing and burdening the heart. Even mild dehydration prevents the kidneys from effectively purifying the blood.
When this happens, some of the kidney’s workload is passed on to the liver and other organs, and may cause them to be severely stressed. Minor health conditions such as constipation, dry and itchy skin, acne, nosebleeds, urinary tract infections, coughs, sneezing, sinus problems and headache may develop as a consequence.
It is no secret that drinking 2 litres of water a day can dramatically improve your health, and the signs will be obvious: Glowing complexion and clear skin, better immunity, better digestion, less aches and pains, weight loss, less cellulite, better concentration and renewed vitality and energy.
Most detox regimes recommend flooding the body with purified or filtered water, rather than the bottled kind. Infusing the body with water will immediately stimulate your kidneys, liver and digestive system’s (primary detox organs) functions. It will boost your metabolism, which in turn accelerates toxin and fat elimination.
Water fasts are highly praised for cleansing, and are regularly practised by keen detox advocates. However, fasting is not to be taken lightly, and any fast longer than 48 hours should be medically supervised.
Steam and Sweat Baths
There is a valid reason why humans have used sweat baths for hygienic and health purposes since the Stone Age. It’s because sweating has proven its effectiveness in flushing out toxins and disease, and maintaining optimal health.
The skin is the largest organ in the body and, through the pores, it plays a major role in the detoxifying process alongside the lungs, kidneys, bowels, liver, and the lymphatic and immune systems. The skin produces cool sweat to regulate the body’s elevated temperature. It also has the ability to transform toxins from lipid-soluble or oil-based, into easier to eliminate, water-soluble form. Sweat carries toxins out of the body and flushes them through the pores.
Most cultures around the world have their own versions of the sweat bath, whether it’s the ancient Romans and their “Thermae” or the traditional Japanese “Onsen”. The Russian “Banya”, or the native American Indians’ “Inipi”, without omitting the notorious Turkish bath or “Hamam”. However, the Finnish Sauna, remains the most prominent and popular one of all.
Regardless of what it’s called, the sweat bath’s health benefits are infinite, with the primary one being its waste and toxins elimination action through the pores. Other sweat baths benefits include improved circulation, weight and fat loss, skin cleansing and body and mind relaxation.
Detox Bath
An equally powerful water detox method is the Detox Bath.
Based on an ancestral detox technique created by Louis Kuhne of Leipzig in 1883, (who used it to treat his own cancer and heal thousands of often-serious diseases), the Detox Bath uses ONLY water and can take as little as 10 minutes a day.
The Detox Bath’s working principle is to refresh the core area of the body (around the groin and genitals) during 10 minutes daily or longer, depending on your initial condition, and the results you seek to achieve. This process creates a vibration in the fascia (Interconnecting tissue covering all internal organs), which sets in motion a roll-back effect that transports digestion’s leftover fats and deposited toxins back to the intestines, where they are later eliminated.
Why Is The Detox Bath So Powerful?
Besides its toxin and fat elimination action, the Detox Bath’s potency resides in the fact that:
1- It works on the groin area, one of the highest nerve-concentration areas in the body, hence its positive effect on mood, sleep and energy.
2- The groin houses main arteries, so the bath greatly improves blood circulation and digestion.
3- It stimulates the root chakra, which governs sexual energy and reproductive organs. It helps regulate the menstrual cycle, and has been used by Louis Kuhne to treat impotence. It is also beneficial for low libido and menopausal symptoms.
Practiced regularly, the Detox Bath, (based on Louis Kuhne’s friction sitz bath) supports the body’s elimination capacity, effectively ridding it of toxins and fat. It boosts metabolism and digestion; improves sleep, energy and mood, and promotes clear skin and radiant complexion.
Conclusion
Detox is not -and never will be- an instant, magical fix. Detox is an ongoing process, which provides tremendous health benefits, that you can enjoy starting today, by simply using water…
A regular practice of a combination of the 3 -almost free- and completely safe water detox methods above is the only detox regime you’ll ever need to effectively eliminate toxins and fat, and enjoy a lifetime of radiant health.

There is recent evidence to suggest that sugar and eczema are completely connected and studies are showing that it is not a healthy connection. If you are suffering from eczema it is suggested that perhaps it could be caused from a high intake of sugar and sugar products as sugar and eczema are now documented to have a cause and effect on the eczema sufferer. It is imperative that if you wish to understand the connection so that you can correct the problem with your irritating, painful skin disorder.
Sugar is thought to be consumed in very high doses in today’s society and if the studies that are being done suggest anything, it is that the average westerner consumes more than two pounds of sugar each week. That is a very overwhelming number however it isn’t all that shocking in today’s food markets considering it is hard to purchase anything that doesn’t contain some form of sugar. Such food items that used to carry nutritional value are known bombarded with sugar such as bread, ketchup, and peanut butter just to mention a select few. In fact, it remains to be a constant struggle for sugar and eczema to be apart due to the unavailability of healthy foods that are manufactured without sugar or sugar products.
Eczema In The Early Days
The information that you are learning is absolutely astonishing and when you figure out that if you consume over two pounds of sugar a week that is nearly 135 pounds of sugar a year for one person! It is in this information from research studies that it becomes clear how sugar and eczema are connected and play a pivotal role in this skin disorder.
In the late 1800s our ancestors only consumed approximately five pounds of sugar per year. That is a far cry from today’s society consuming nearly that per week and here is where the sugar and eczema make its connection apparent. In the late 1800s and the early 1900s eczema was virtually non existent. There was also no documented literature that suggested either cancer or the presence of heart diseases. That is pretty amazing if you calculate that today cancer, heart disease and skin diseases are rapidly increasing on a yearly basis with no slow down in sight.
You can clearly understand and see not only the connection between sugar and eczema but also the connection between sugar and many health issues. Sugar is now scientifically proven to be very unhealthy and cause ill effects when it is consumed in high quantities. Be smart and try to reduce the amount of sugar you have in your diet to better control your skin diseases and health in general.

Ever wonder what natural compounds account for the aroma, flavor and color of vegetables and fruits? The answer is flavonoids. Thousands of them.
Interest by the public in flavonoids has been increasing due to the growing reputation of food antioxidants that can have beneficial roles in disease prevention. The number of hits on Google for flavonoids is 2.52 million, and on PubMed, an online database just for medical research, there are over 34,000 original publications on flavonoids.
Flavonoids are a large family of phenolic compounds synthesized by plants as pigments that attract pollinators, repel pests and protect plant cells both from ultraviolet radiation and internal production of reactive oxygen species during photosynthesis.
As a group, flavonoids are the most associated phytochemical class with antioxidant values in plant foods.
Health scientists believe that people gain some of these same benefits by consuming flavonoid-rich plant foods, an area of active scientific study.
Current research trends on flavonoids
Scientists are keenly pursuing numerous potential health effects of flavonoids associated with fruit and vegetable-rich diets. Even in people without disease, benefits may occur for the cardiovascular system, brain, joints, skin, and urinary tract.
Many of the biological effects of flavonoids seem to come from their ability to modulate communication between cells, a new mechanism of flavonoid action in addition to the more traditionally accepted antioxidant activity.
Scientists are examining flavonoids as “biological response modifiers”, a role where they may alter the body’s responses to viruses, allergens, bacteria, carcinogens (cancer agents), inflammatory agents, and oxygen radicals.
Flavonoid intakes through the diet may help prevent cancer in humans.
Flavonoid consumption may lower risk of neurodegenerative diseases, as in Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.
While higher intakes of flavonoid-rich foods have been associated with reduced risk of some chronic diseases, it is not known whether isolated flavonoid supplements or extracts confer the same benefits as flavonoid-rich foods.
6 Major Classes of Dietary Flavonoids
Although flavonoids are related by a common chemical structure (called in chemistry, a “phenolic ring”), there are at least 4,000 variations in flavonoid structure and therefore more than 4,000 individual flavonoids in the plant kingdom. To manage such diversity, it is useful to group these compounds into 6 major classes, each having members with similar structure. The following groups have been devised by food chemists and give a place to start educating the public. The names of classes are similar because the chemical structures are closely related.
1. Anthocyanidins. Also called flavonals. Parent structure to anthocyanins found in red, blue, purple and black berries and grapes. Present in dark wines. Examples: cyanidin, delphinidin, petunidin, peonidin, malvidin, pelargonidin.
2. Flavanols. Found in black and green teas, berries, dark chocolate. Single structures (”monomers”) are called catechins whereas multiple-unit structures (”polymers”) are called proanthocyanidins, tannins, epigallocatechin, and theaflavins. May contain subgroups of ellagic or gallic acid. This class is also named flavan-3-ols.
3. Flavanones. Characteristic of citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, lemons), members of this group include naringenin, silybin and hesperidin.
4. Flavonols. Found in all plants with bright colors, such as berries, kale (dark green), broccoli and bell peppers, this group includes quercetin, kaempferol, myricetin, rutin and isorhamnetin.
5. Flavones. Represented by apigenin and luteolin, flavones are found in herbs (chamomille, parsley) and subterranean plants like celery and radishes.
6. Isoflavones. The signature group from soybeans and soy products (tofu, soy milk), isoflavone members include genistein and daidzein.
Less Antioxidant Activity Than We Hoped?
Due to their favorable chemical structure for serving as antioxidants, flavonoids are expected to be effective scavengers of free radicals in the human body, just as they are in the test tube (”in vitro”).
However, even with very high flavonoid intake through the diet, blood and intracellular flavonoid concentrations in humans are around 100-1,000 times lower than concentrations of other known antioxidants, such as vitamin C, melatonin or glutathione. Part of this effect occurs because flavonoids do not stay in the blood or tissues, but are filtered by the kidneys into urine for excretion. Scientists would say from these circumstances that flavonoids are not very “bioavailable”.
Also, it has been found that most circulating flavonoids are actually flavonoid substructures cleaved off from the parent molecule by stomach acids and metabolism. Naturally, some of these new, smaller flavonoid molecules have lower antioxidant activity than the parent.
For the reasons above, the relative contribution of dietary flavonoids to the body’s antioxidant protection is less than predicted from their chemical structure and antioxidant activity in vitro.
Flavonoids Affect Communications Between Cells
Although initially thought that flavonoids would have antioxidant roles as their main biological function, new scientific evidence from cell culture research indicates that flavonoids can modify signaling activity between cells. Flavonoid concentrations needed to change cell signaling pathways are considerably lower than those required to serve antioxidant roles.
Changes in cell-to-cell signaling capability require enzymes known as kinases to sensitize target proteins (”receptors”) at the receiving cell. Cell culture experiments indicate that flavonoids may affect chronic diseases by selectively inhibiting kinases.
This means that flavonoids may alter receptor sensitivity in certain diseases, such as in cancer by these candidate mechanisms:
1. Cancer cells depend on growth stimuli to enlarge and spread; flavonoids may inhibit cancer cells from communicating these signals to one another.
2. Cancer cells proliferate rapidly and lose their ability to undergo normal cell death signals (”apoptosis”; pronounced eh-poe-toe-sis); flavonoids may inhibit both the proliferation process and apoptosis.
3. Cancerous cells invade normal tissue aided by enzymes called matrix-metalloproteinases; flavonoids block the activities of these metal-containing enzymes.
4. Invasive tumors must also develop new blood vessels by a process known as angiogenesis to support their rapid growth; flavonoids inhibit angiogensis.
5. Tumor growth may depend on mechanisms of inflammation to grow, proliferate and resist apoptosis; flavonoids are well-established as anti-inflammatory agents.
Ongoing research will reveal additional characteristics of flavonoid biology in health and disease. It seems safe to conclude that the surest way consumers can gain the health rewards promised by flavonoid research is to consume plentiful plant foods containing them.
This should be an easy task as such foods are the most colorful and best-tasting fresh produce in the store — Berries, red delicious apples, citrus fruits, black and green teas, red, orange, yellow and dark green vegetables, and even dark chocolate!

Sunburn is a burn on the skin and a type of skin disorder. It results from overexposure to the harmful UV rays of the sun. The consequence of this burn is inflammation of the skin. Injury can start within 30 minutes of exposure.
Every person, whatever skin colour, at some stage in his life will become sunburned, but light-skinned people are more prone to it. Sunburn can also result from overexposure to “sun” tanning lamps and tanning beds.
Although seldom fatal, sunburn can be disabling and cause quite a bit of discomfort.
Sunburn symptoms:
• Minor sunburn will result in mild redness, itching, rashes. Touching that area can be painful.
• Sunburn in a light-skinned person may occur within 15 minutes of exposure to sun. Pain reaches its peak 6 to 48 hours after exposure.
• Severe symptoms include skin burning and blistering, dehydration and infection.
• Swelling in the skin with the legs being the most common.
• Skin peeling occurs 3-8 days after exposure.
• Other symptoms include – chill, fever, nausea, vomiting, shock and loss of consciousness.
Medical treatment is must in such cases.
Sunburn consequences:
- Temporary disability
- Malignant skin cancer in many cases.
- Premature ageing and wrinkling of skin with appearance of age spots.
- Eye cataracts and in extreme cases blindness also.
- Death in many cases
Who all need to take special precaution against sunburn:
- Light-skinned people are at the highest risk of sunburn as compared to darker counterparts.
- Blue-eyed people or those with red or blond hair get sunburn easily.
- People under certain specific medications such as diuretics, tetracycline, birth control pills, tranquilizers, and anti-depressants.
- People with pigment disorders such as albinism, vitiligo because the lack of melanin in their skin makes them very susceptible to harmful UV rays.
- Certain people who inherit hypersensitivity to cancer causing effects of ultraviolet rays and are largely vulnerable to skin damage. So check out on family history.
- Individuals engaged in certain specific jobs like gardening, fishing, swimming etc. where there is prolonged exposure to sun rays.
Treatment of Sunburn:
Treatment starts at home.
- Cool the burn with a wet cloth or take a light shower with cool and not cold water.
- Do not scrub your skin and avoid any sort of soap, bath salt or oil.
- Use a sunburn remedy easily available in any drug store preferably one that contains aloe Vera. No petroleum jelly in the first 48 hrs, as it retains heat.
- If you are having blisters, bandage the area so as to avoid any sort of infection.
- In addition, drink plenty of water and other fluids to prevent dehydration.
- Relax and once at ease, seek medical help to further ease discomfort incase of a severe sunburn.
- If there is uncontrollable pain, blistering; and you are running high temperature with nausea, vomiting, immediately consult a doctor.
- You can expect to get relief in 4-7 days. There might be skin peeling accompanied by itching. Just bear it. Certain pain relieving medications like ibuprofen, aspirin might help.
Watch out for any skin infection while your blister is healing. Signs of infection include:
- Increased pain, swelling, redness, or warmth around the blister.
- Red streaks extending away from the blister.
- Drainage of pus from the blister.
- Swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpit, or groin.
- Fever.
Get medical help immediately if –
- Sunburn has formed blisters and is extremely painful.
- Person shows signs of confusion.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Development of allergies.
- Headache, or a feeling of faintness.
- Signs of dehydration.
- Signs of skin infection.
- Facial swelling due to a sunburn.
Prevention from Sunburn:
- Avoid going out in the sun between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when UV rays are strongest. If at all necessary, go out with proper precautions.
- Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
- Use a sunscreen with SPF of 15 or more while going out. If out for longer duration, apply sunscreen after every 3-4 hrs. Use waterproof sunscreen while swimming.
- Use ultraviolet protected sunglasses to save your eyes. You can also use a hat.
- Dress properly and protectively while going out. Wear full sleeves dresses, and cotton ones that promote proper ventilation.
- If under any sort of medication, be aware of its side effects because many types of medicines react badly to sun-exposure. Most likely to cause sun-sensitivity are antibiotics and acne medicines.

The action of testosterone can be in ways both beneficial and detrimental to the body. On the plus side, this hormone has a direct impact on the growth of muscle tissues, the production of red blood cells and overall well being of the organism. But it may also negatively effect the production of skin oils, growth of body, facial and scalp hair, and the level of both “good” and “bad” cholesterol in the body [among other things]. In fact, men have a shorter average life span than women, which is believed to be largely due to the cardiovascular defects that this hormone may help bring about. Testosterone will also naturally convert to estrogen in the male body, a hormone with its own unique set of effects. As we have discussed earlier, raising the level of estrogen in men can increase the tendency to notice water retention, fat accumulation, and will often cause the development of female tissues in the breast [gynecomastia]. Clearly we see that most of the “bad” side effects from steroids are simply those actions of testosterone that we are not looking for when taking a steroid. Raising the level of testosterone in the body will simply enhance both its good and bad properties, but for the most part we are not having “toxic° reactions to these drugs. A notable exception to this is the possibility of liver damage, which is a worry isolated to the use of c17-alpha alkylated oral steroids. Unless the athlete is taking anabolic/androgenic steroids abusively for a very long duration, side effects rarely amount to little more than a nuisance. One could actually make a case that periodic steroid use might even be a healthy practice. Clearly a person physical shape can relate closely to one overall health and well being. Provided some common sense is paid to health checkups, drug choice, dosage and off-time, how can we say for certain that the user is worse off for doing so? This position is of course very difficult to publicly justify with steroid use being so deeply stigmatized. Since this can be a very lengthy discussion, we will save the full health, moral and legal arguments for another time. For now I would like to run down the list of popularly discussed side effects, and include any current treatment/avoidance advice where possible.
Anabolic Steroids in the future Introduction The use of anabolic steroids has been often cited as one of the slippery moral issues associated with sports. These drugs that are used by sportsmen to increase their muscular strength have been found to have harmful side effects as well as condemned as medications that can give some sportsmen an unfair advantage over others. At the same time, these drugs can be effective in helping athletes bring out their potential, especially if their downside is brought down by further research. Thus, sportsmen can have access to these drugs if efforts are taken to test sportsmen for steroids and thus neutralize their harmful potential. This paper will attempt to prove that steroids do have a place in the future of sports medicine and sports as such. Arguments against Steroids Most arguments against the use of steroids boil down to the fact that, if abused, steroids can have a harmful effect on human bodies, leading to dangerous effects. Thus, steroids have been found to affect the brain as “high doses can make people feel happy, euphoric, hyped-up, with disturbance of sleep and even serious psychiatric illness such as mania, very aggressive behavior and psychosis (delusions, pananoia, loss of touch with reality)” (Dixon). Thus, the person who abuses steroids can really end up with a mental problem, something that can really disrupt one’s life and is a serious question for someone who is engaged in sports. Sport is meant to heal, not harm the human body. The harmful effect of steroids is not limited to mental problems. Thus, steroids can adversely affect a person’s skin, causing its thinning and weakening. Bones of the people who use a lot of steroids lose calcium, which makes them weaker and can easily lead to fractures. Weight problem can arise as people begin to eat a lot and experience a rise in appetite, which alone can cause them serious problems. The rise in blood sugar that accompanies the use of steroids can cause diabetes. Perhaps the most serious downside of steroids is the harmful effect associated with disruptions of the immune system that will not function properly in someone overusing steroids. Steroids “knock out” immune systems so that “people on high doses of steroids for medical reasons can die from chest infections and cancers of many kinds” (Dixon). People who use steroids open their bodies to the impact of many bacteria and viruses that their immune systems would otherwise ward off, such as candida yeast – the fungus that can cause inflammation of the skin, vagina, and other organs. For women, androgynous effects associated with steroids can be a serious problem. These effects stem from the application of testosterone that is in fact male hormone. In women it triggers the development of qualities that make a woman look like a man. These include but are not limited to “irreversible enlargement of the clitoris, irreversible hoarsening and deepening of the voice, irreversible increase in facial and body hair, decreased breast size” (Anabolic Steroids). Certainly, given the public opinion of female athletes as often deficient in femininity, these effects are less than welcome. Besides, female athletes using steroids face a greater risk of developing cervical and endometrial cancer as well as osteoporosis (Anabolic Steroids). Men, on their part, are also negatively affecting by the use of anabolic steroids. Their reproductive function is often hurt to the degree when they suffer from infertility. Besides, many men using steroids report a decrease in potency and lower sex drive (Anabolic Steroids). What Are Anabolic Steroids? Anabolic steroids are part of performance-enhancing drugs along with psychomotor stimulants. Anabolic steroids “are used to increase muscle bulk and strength (and therefore, to some extent, speed), and to enhance recovery from heavy workouts or certain kinds of muscular injuries” (Coombs, West 1991:117). The correct term is actually “anabolic-androgenic” steroids, but “anabolic steroids” has become a conventional term that is more widely used. They are used in some sports such as track and field and football where muscular strength of the athletes matters and helps them to win. They stay in the body for prolonged time periods, making it relatively easy to identify them in the body, as they are detectable not only directly after use, but also for prolonged periods after the use. The use of steroids dates back to the isolation of testosterone, a naturally occurring hormone, in 1935. This hormone has “both androgenic (masculinization) and anabolic (tissue-building) properties” (Massimino, Sallis 1997: 237). The same properties have been replicated in synthetic steroids, although scientists attempted to bring down the androgenic properties. They were successful to some extent, although steroids still retain their androgenic properties to a great degree. The first use of anabolic steroids was to treat hypogonadism, a condition in which male testes do not produce enough hormones and thus have to receive outside help. The athletes began to use these drugs in the 1950s, as they spread from the Soviet Union to the US and other nations that wanted in this way stimulate the sports performance of their athletes. The wide spread of steroid use as well as their harmful effect finally led the International Olympic Committee to forbid participants to use anabolic steroids at the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montreal (Massimino, Sallis 1997: 238). At the moment, there are over 100 anabolic steroids. In the US, an individual has to have a medical prescription to purchase these drugs (Anabolic Steroids).
The Benefits of Steroids Despite the numerous cons, steroids do have their bright side – otherwise people would not use them. Thus, they have been reported to help athletes build their muscular strength and improve their performance in this way. This is explained by the role of the steroids in the generation of protein and growth hormone that are both stimulated by steroid use. This is described as anabolic effect. Steroids also have been described as having an anticatabolic effect. This effect appears “due to interaction with cortisol released in response to physical and psychological stress, causing protein degradation and muscle atrophy” (Massimino, Sallis 1997: 238). In addition, this effect is linked to the effect of corticosteroid testosterone by from other receptor sites. Steroids are believed to increase aggression – the reason for which they were probably used by Nazi soldiers in World War II. These drugs can therefore stimulate the performance of the sportsmen, especially in group games where aggression can motivate them for achievement. The use of steroids can also have a mental effect since sportsmen believe in steroids that can allegedly give them greater power. This is the ground for which a group of researchers found that athletes “showed significant gains in strength, even though the athletes received a placebo” (Massimino, Sallis 1997: 239). Sport is only one use of steroids that were originally invented as anti-inflammatory drugs. They are very powerful substances that produce a variety of effects on the human body. Thus, steroids can be used for treating infectious diseases when it is necessary to bring down the inflammation. Steroids can help bring down death rate caused by asthma as well as applied to painful joints and ligaments. Talking of skin diseases, eczema and a number of other skin problems can be treated using steroids. Other uses of anabolic steroids are “to treat delayed puberty, some types of impotence, and wasting of the body caused by HIV infection or other diseases” (Anabolic Steroids). The first two effects stem from the inclusion of testosterone in synthetic steroids. Besides, “steroids make the whole immune system less active, which can be very useful in illnesses where there is an immune component – a huge number” (Dixon). The latter is especially important as this shows that the negative side of steroids can simultaneously be the benefit as these drugs can be used to reduce the response of the immune system to the stimulant, making them effective treatment for a range of diseases. Indeed, what is a poison in some cases is a cure in others. The opportunities for the use of steroids are not limited to applying them where it is necessary to reduce the response of the immune system, in particular when it comes to brain tumors. They are also useful in cancer treatment. True, they do not treat cancer as they only prolong the patient’s life. However, in many cases it is necessary to help the patient survive the last few weeks. Steroids in this case act as follows: they reduce the swelling around the brain tumor, relieving the patient’s condition. Anabolic steroids have also been described as having a positive influence on the patients recovering after a fracture. Due to their powerful action on muscle growth and weight gain, they can speed up the healing of the fracture and help quickly revive the function of the corresponding organ. A study conducted by M. Hedstrom, K. Sjoberg, E. Brosjo, A. Astrom, A, and others researched the effects of steroids on 63 female patients who had undergone surgery because of fractures. The women were divided into two groups. One group received only calcium for treatment, while others also received steroids and vitamin D. In their article published in Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (May 2002), the researchers state that the study demonstrated that “the anabolic group did not lose muscle volume during the first 12 months whereas the control group did”. They found that the intake of anabolic steroids had positive impact on the growth of tissue, bone mineral density, and clinical function. The scientists note that functional recovery often takes a lot of time, especially in elderly patients after a hip fracture. The function is often restored incompletely and can be bone mineral density drops after the fracture and the surgery. Therefore, steroids help to solve important problems for patients. The study confirms that “that a low dose of nandrolone decanoate in combination with a low dose of alphacalcidol and calcium has a positive effect on body composition, BMD and the clinical function in elderly women after fracture of the hip” (Hedstrom et al. 2002). Thus, steroids can be of great value in treating patients with fractures.

With skin cancer rates increasing, natural tanning could become a thing of the past. But is sunless tanning a good replacement? Here, we’ll examine the pros and cons of sunless vs. natural tanning-and see how sunless tans hold up.
Natural tanning: The Pros.
A more natural look. Natural tanning generally looks more natural than sunless tanning, despite some significant advances in sunless tanning technology. The reason is that natural tanning always brings out natural skin tones-so it always looks right on you. If you’re not working with a skilled specialist, the shade you use in a sunless tan might be just a bit off-making the tan look too orange or yellow on your skin.
Fun. Despite recent warnings about skin cancer and UV rays, we still love to spend time outside. Natural tanning is often a social event, on the beach with a book or a tall drink. Going to a salon might get you a safer result, but natural tanning is a fun, relaxing experience that makes us feel good.
Natural tanning: The Cons.
Uneven tanning. If you don’t spend equal time on your back, stomach, and sides, you can get an uneven tan. In addition, if you’re preparing your tan for a big party or wedding, you’ll have to sunbathe topless to cut out the bikini lines-and not all of us have a place to do that in privacy.
Sunburn. Sunburns are a nuisance if you’re lucky-at worst they can accompany serious symptoms of heat stroke, such as fever, dizziness, and the chills. The worst part about sunburns is that they’re so easy to get-only twenty minutes of sun at the wrong time of day can result in a painful burn.
Skin cancer. It’s the most common kind of cancer in people in their 20’s-and it can be fatal. Skin cancer is becoming more and more prevalent as pollution strips our atmosphere of its natural shield against UV rays, putting us all in danger of getting it. A natural tan may give you a healthy-looking glow, but natural tanning is no longer a safe activity.
Sunless tanning: The Pros
Everyone can tan. There are some people with very fair skin who just can’t tan naturally-their summers are an endless cycle of burning and peeling. For these people, sunless tanning is the only option for that sun-kissed glow-with no risk of sunburn.
An even, on-demand tan for special events. With sunless tanning, you don’t have to spend days or weeks in the sun-or risking public indecency laws-to get a perfect, line-free, even tan for a special event. Just go to the salon once, and you’ll have a tan that will look great under your dress without tan lines-the easy way.
No risk of cancer. This is the single best selling point of sunless tanning-it could save your life. Sunless tanning carries no risk of cancer, giving you a good-looking tan without all the health risks associated with exposure to UV rays.
Sunless tanning: The Cons
A little less natural. The sun always brings out your natural skin tones-so your tan always looks right on you. A sunless tan in a less-than-expert salon could use a tone that’s not quite perfect for your skin, which makes some sunless tans look less natural. However, it’s almost impossible to tell an expertly-applied sunless tan from a natural tan.
Risk of sunburn. When you tan naturally, your skin builds resistance to the sun-so you won’t burn once you’ve tanned. With a sunless tan, you don’t have that resistance-so it’s still possible to burn, even if you look dark enough to withstand plenty of sunlight. Wear sunscreen over your sunless tan, and there won’t be a problem.
For us, just one factor makes sunless tans better than natural: their safety. With a sunless tan, you can be as dark as you want without risking burns or cancer. Which one you prefer is up to you-but it’s pretty clear that even tanning, relaxation, and a natural tone are hardly worth risking your life and health for.

Stay Beautiful in Your 40s
Deeper wrinkles and reduced elasticity and firmness are the most common skin problems in this decade, as years of sun exposure and declining estrogen take their toll.
As you age, decreasing estrogen levels influence the production of other substances in your body. For example, the amount of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring chemical that helps keep skin firm, begins to decline, affecting your skin’s ability to retain moisture.
Oil production also slows down, reducing natural lubrication. To help counteract these changes, use creams that contain humectants (like glycerin, citric acid, propylene glycol, urea, and phospholipids) and emollients (such as petrolatum, shea butter, and cetyl alcohol) to seal in moisture.
Skin Care Tips
1. Amp up your regimen. Look for cleansers and toners with more moisturizing capacity. Exfoliate more often.
2. Check your eyes. The skin around your eyes is thinner and may develop more obvious lines, discoloration or puffiness. Use specialized spot treatments for the eye area.
3. Choose multi-tasking makeup. Many modern cosmetics gently treat as they cover. Use those especially designed for aging or damaged skin. Caution: Hold back on coloration as heavy makeup can make imperfections more glaring.
4. Pour on some body love. Indulge your body to improve your mood and alleviate the discomforts of hot flashes and night sweats. Use shower gels and lotions liberally.
5. Practice a regular cleansing routine. Cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturize…this daily routine should carry you on your way toward healthier skin. Select a gentle skin cleansing solution that works for your specific type of skin – dry, oily, normal.
Using your selected product, cleanse face in a circular motion and rinse with lukewarm water, as hot water zaps skin’s moisture.
6. Daily use of sunscreen products with at least an SPF of 15 and antioxidants along with protective clothing such as full-brimmed hats, long sleeved blouses and shirts, and slacks instead of shorts will greatly reduce the aging of the skin and the possibility of skin cancer.
7. Facial skin care should also be of concern and sunglasses should be worn while outside. This will protect the eyelids from aging and will help reduce crows feet by reducing the squinting which comes from sun exposure without eye protection.
8. Scaly patches of skin can be a disappointment if you are planning to bare your skin. These spots are ‘eczema’, which presents itself in a number of ways, including itching, rashes and thickened brown patches of skin. People who suffer from hay fever and other allergies may be at greater risk of developing eczema.
Keep the affected areas well moisturized using a thick moisturizing cream. You can also try experimenting with a lotion containing AHAs to slough off the thickened skin. Avoid picking or scratching at the patches as this can lead to bleeding and scarring. Visit a dermatologist if the problem persists.
9. Frequent weight gains and losses can also dramatically affect the elasticity of the skin. When the weight is gained, the skin stretches to accommodate the excess weight. When a lot of weight is lost, quickly, the skin doesn’t have time to accommodate the changing contours and sagging and premature wrinkling can occur.
Gradual weight loss should not impact the skin, although a reduced calorie diet can cause the skin to look dull and lifeless unless the diet is well balanced.
10. Many studies have been done over the years demonstrating the healing and physiological properties of bovine colostrum. Colostrum helps the immune system to function more efficiently, maintain peak performance and fight acne causing bacteria.
Colostrum supplies growth factors (hormones) as well as stimulating the endocrine system to keep producing its own supply of hormones. Research strongly indicates that the combination of growth and immune factors in colostrum works together to create a potent anti-aging effect, including tighter skin, and regrowth of cells and tissue of organs that normally decrease in size with age.
Daily supplementation on Bovine Colostrum allows the body to have improved resilience against any type of stress. Overall health and well being is accomplished when the body has all of the necessary factors it needs for defense, healing and repair.
If you have special skin issues, such as stubborn acne, rosacea, or extremely sensitive or oily skin, the best thing to do is to seek out the advice of a professional dermatologist.
Pretty, healthy skin is well within your grasp, with a little bit of awareness, determination and persistence on your part. The results are definitely worth it. Live juicy and be happy with your largest organ!
Note: None of the information in this article is scientifically based, but it does work, based on the personal experiences of myself and many others.

This arthritis healing secret lies hidden right in front, around and above you. Mother nature has hidden within her endless healing secrets. One healing secret that lies in the lap of nature is a potently powerful remedy that has been used for many thousands of years to heal arthritis.
There is no rheumatoid arthritis drug that comes even close to the amazing healing power of this forgotten remedy. It is one of the most effective remedy’s in the world and will continue to remain one of natures heavy hitters in healing.
But like many things people only imagine something to be effective if it is complex and expensive. But the truth is nature is simple, free and a genius in its healing ability. In fact one definition of genius is to make complex things simple.Nature heals in the simplest of ways but has unmatched healing power.
Now this remedy from nature has been used in all cultures across the world for thousands of years.
The romans made use of this remedy in training their gladiators because they knew that this secret remedy seemed to strengthen and enlarge their muscles.
Also native american indians used this secret remedy to gain tremendous amounts of energy. In fact after absorbing this remedy for two hours they used to gather so much energy that they didn’t need food for the rest of the day.
Your whole body surface was designed by god to enjoy this remedy. Have you guessed what this extraordinary secret remedy is yet?
This secret remedy is the sun.
Now your next question should be how do you use the sun like the ancients did in order to help heal your rheumatoid arthritis? I will explain this in detail within this newsletter but first let me destroy some myths about the sun.
Myth one. Will sunlight cause skin cancer?
It’s easy to forget in the midst of the cancer epidemic that cancer was traditionally a rare disease affecting less than one percent of the population. The healthy long lived populations like the hunzas and the vilcabambas lived at high elevations where the sun was more intense. They were out farming every day in the direct sun, yet they lived to very old ages without getting cancer.
If the sun causes cancer, how did these people ever survive?
The fact is that skin cancer is the end-result caused by unhealthy eating, unhealthy lifestyle and an unhealthy mind state which causes your skin to contain free radicals which leads to skin cancer. Skin cancer is not a result of natures sun shine, it is a result of ignoring natures laws.
Sunbathing actually helps heal those with cancer by building up their body’s vital energies, immunity and increasing the oxygen in their tissues. In fact sunlight treatments reduced malignant cancer growths by fifty percent in animal experiments done in russia by dr zabaluyeva.
Myth two. Should you use sunscreens?
In past few decades there has been an increasing use of sunscreens and the interesting fact is it has done nothing to stop the increasing rate of skin cancer.
In fact the chemicals in sunscreens may even become carcinogenic when exposed to sunlight. Researchers at the anderson cancer center in houston say, there is no substantial evidence that sunscreen protects against any of the three forms of skin cancer.
Sunscreens should not be used on your skin because they contain toxic, unnatural ingredients that block the beneficial effects of the suns rays from entering your body. Anything that blocks sunshine from penetrating your skin will reduce the amount of Vitamin d that your body makes.
The fact is you are designed to be out in the sun. Sunlight is absolutely essential for good health and for treating rheumatoid arthritis.
Benefits of sunlight.
Sunlight helps strengthen your muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. Sunlight saturates your body with known and unknown nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Sunlight helps to control your metabolism, hormone production, reproductive function, internal clock and your mood. Recent studies have found that sunlight can help protect you from cancer.Sunlight also provides you with your main source of vitamin d, this nutrient strengthens your bones, muscles and boosts your immune system. Sunlight can help prevent and heal many common and often fatal disease like arthritis, breast cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis.
Sunlight is used successfully to speed up the healing of wounds, it is natures antibiotic.Sunlight can cheer you up by altering your mood chemically by increasing the amounts of serotonin in your body.Sunlight also stimulates the pineal gland which is a tiny pea-sized organ found in the base of your brain which helps to regulate your activity cycles. The suns rays are antiseptic and are capable of killing bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeasts, molds and mites.
Sunlight increases your sense of well-being and improves sleep. Sunlight improves your thyroid function, appetite, assimilation, elimination and metabolic processes. Sunlight helps to remove poisonous chemicals and heavy metals from your bloodstream while levels of healthy trace minerals are actually increased in your blood. Sunlight helps reduce your resting heart rate, blood pressure and respiration rate. Sunlight stimulates the production of more red and white blood cells.
Why you should never wear glasses when exposing yourself to sunlight?
The healing rays of natural sunlight cannot penetrate glass. So you don’t generate vitamin d when sitting in your car or home or when you are wearing glasses, sunglasses or contact lenses because they block the beneficial effects of sunlight.
In order to effectively gain the benefits of the suns rays you must expose yourself to direct sunlight without sitting behind glass and without wearing sunglasses, glasses or contact lenses. The healing rays of sunlight are only absorbed directly through your skin and through the retina in your eyes. The sunlight that enters into your retina is a very important nutrient.
The importance of exposing your whole body to direct sunlight without wearing sun glasses is highlighted by a very interesting experiment that dr john nash ott accidentally stumbled upon. John nash was involved in studies of health and sun light. He was exposing himself, plants and animals regularly to sunlight and recording the healing effects. During this period dr ott accidentally dropped and broke his prescription glasses which thus forced him to expose his eyes to sunlight without glasses. And incredibly after doing this all his symptoms of arthritis disappeared soon after.
From this ott considered that the full spectrum sunlight’s effect happened not only from its impact on the skin but through the eyes. So just remember when exposing your body to sunlight, take off your glasses, sunglasses or contact lenses so your eye can receive the entire spectrum of the sunlight. Do not look directly at the sun with your eyes but be in the sunlight without wearing your sunglasses or glasses.
When is the best time of day to get a sun bath?
The best time of day to expose your whole body to sunlight is at sunrise or within two hours after sunrise. Or if this time isn’t possible the next best time is in the morning hours before eleven am. During these early morning hours there is more pure healing energy in the atmosphere which the suns rays pick up and lodge into your body. At sunrise the sun holds more energy, vitamins and minerals then at sunset. It is also scientifically proven that the atmosphere during this time is more free from ultraviolet rays and infrared rays which are harmful to your health.
In general avoid sunlight exposure after eleven am because more negative, harmful energies increase in the atmosphere at this time.
Sunbath as much of your body as possible.
In your own house if you have total privacy and hundred percent safety you should sun bath in the full nude so you can expose every part of your body to the healing rays of the sun. If this is not possible you should wear as little as possible like bathers when exposing your body so you can get the maximum amount of the suns rays on your body.
First expose the front of your body to the sun, then turn over and expose your back to the suns healing rays. It is very important to get gradual amounts of sunlight on your body and build up gradually over time.
How much sunlight should you get?
When sunbathing you should start by keeping your sun exposures to three minutes per side and then gradually increase your exposure by a minute each day until you reach one hour of exposure every day.
By mild exposure in gradually increasing increments you will condition your skin and body to the suns healing rays. Your body will naturally and effortlessly be able to handle large amounts of sun light without any detrimental effects or sunburn.
But any color change in the skin beyond the slightly pink stage is a sign that you have overdone it. The therapeutic effects occur just below the level of turning red. Remember that it takes time for your skin color to change. Be sure to get out of the sun before you turn pink or it may be too late. Make sure you never allow yourself to get burnt.
Pray to the sun.
On the material plane the sun is the link between humanity and God. The Sun contains many mystical secrets which the ancients knew. These secrets have been lost to the modern world. While bathing in the sun you should talk to the sun like you would talk to your dearest friend. The sun contains infinite knowledge and has the ability to transmit that knowledge to you on a subtle level. Tell the sun your problems and ask the sun how you can solve these problems. Ask the sun these questions with faith, respect, love and concentration. You will be surprised at what answers you get.
The sun will impart knowledge and answers to your questions on a subtle intuitive level. Or through the suns grace certain circumstances in your life will arise to help you solve your problems.
What dangers to avoid while exposing your body to sunlight.
Do not overheat yourself when exposing yourself to the suns rays. Overheating can lead to heat exhaustion or sunstroke. Do not look directly at the sun with open eyes as it can damage your eyes. Do not stay too long in the sun so you burn your skin, always get out of the sun before your skin turns red. Sunburn is harmful to your health. What you want to do is slowly build up your tan over time gradually and naturally.
This single remedy of sunlight is a potent addition to add to your healing weapons against rheumatoid arthritis but used alone it will not fully cure rheumatoid arthritis. It is just one of the weapons you need to use in order to conquer the disease.
To fully heal rheumatoid arthritis you need to combine many healing elements.
This includes the following.
Step one. Detoxification. This step includes liquid fasting, detoxification herbs, detoxification diets and detoxification enemas.
Step two. Rejuvenation. This step includes rejuvenation diet, rejuvenation lifestyle, rejuvenation herbs, rejuvenation treatments that are specifically designed to rejuvenate your joints.
Step three. Alternating between detoxification and rejuvenation. This step includes repeating the above mentioned detoxification and rejuvenation cycles until you are cured.
Step four. Prevention. This includes using diet, lifestyle, herbs and other procedures that are based on your unique constitution in order to prevent rheumatoid arthritis returning to you after you have cured yourself.
All this rare, highly unique, potently powerful healing knowledge is covered in complete detail in my rheumatoid arthritis home healing course at my website.
